Since I wanted to compile the openmpi version, it helped to use mpif90 instead of gfortran, which, on my system, is $ mpif90 --showme /usr/bin/gfortran -I/usr/include -pthread -I/usr/lib/openmpi -L/usr/lib/openmpi -lmpi_f90 -lmpi_f77 Gcc Cannot Find Ld Is it in some other repo somewhere? Now, you can compile mini_sendmail without any problem under RHEL 6. To install GCC to my own personal Linux account as a non-administrator, I ended up having to compile GCC and not use the binaries I originally downloaded. Then we modified the group's .profile to add the library and binary paths to that, before the standard path.
