Could happily boot up the new system on the 750GB disk while attached to the USB - SATA interface. You know, just in case, but no effects. I believe its not a physical issue, once started from a forced shutdown and no noises with the hard drive. Showed up as having one small partition when installed internally - doesn't seem to cause any problems when connected externally. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. If you need to back up any information on the drive, first connect your drive to a computer that does recognize the drive and transfer the data to a new storage I found this page by accident when searching for info on formatting a new drive.
