The new keyboard did fine until a few weeks ago. After a lot of experimenting, I resolved the problem by removing my bluetooth keyboard from the bluetooth devices list completely and then plugging in the wired keyboard. The time now is 12:29 AM. Thanks!!

They're poor keyboards for people who actually need to, you know, type. Who knows… They may release a patch. Bizarre - I guess the extra cable adds some resistance/impedance that the USB circuit requires. Saved me wasted time.
